Hong Kong, October 2026 — Enjoycool Technology has passed a cumulative 1.8 million square metres of installed underwater decorative protection, across water parks, public aquariums, swimming pools, hot spring resorts and industrial water-contact structures.
The figure covers installations delivered by the company as general contractor and by authorised applicator partners using SLETU underwater coatings, SLEME elastic decorative materials and the OiCE cooling range.
Where the area came from
The largest single category is open-air wet pedestrian areas in water parks — pool decks, splash zones, walkways around slide plunge pools and the elevated platforms that carry ride equipment. These surfaces combine three requirements that are usually specified separately: wet slip resistance, thermal comfort under bare feet and cushioning in the event of a fall.
Public aquariums and oceanariums form the second category. Here the requirement is different: continuous immersion, acrylic viewing panel interfaces that cannot tolerate movement, and decorative finishes that must remain stable in seawater and in the maintenance chemicals used around it.
Hot spring resorts and spa facilities contribute a third category, where the combination of elevated water temperature and mineral content places different demands on coating adhesion and long-term film stability.
What 1.8 million square metres teaches
Volume alone is not a quality metric. What matters is what the installed base reveals about failure modes — and the patterns are consistent enough to design against.
Substrate preparation dominates. The majority of premature failures trace back to the surface under the coating, not to the coating itself. Latex, curing compounds, old adhesive residues and damp concrete all prevent proper adhesion regardless of the product applied over them. This is why the SLETU system specifies SLETU-901 high-penetration epoxy primer and SLETU-902 base repair mortar as documented steps rather than optional extras.
Detailing decides the outcome at the edges. Pipe penetrations, drains, expansion joints, ladder anchors and the interface with tiled or stainless-steel elements are where water gets in. A coating that performs perfectly across a hundred square metres of open floor can still fail in a season at a badly sealed floor drain.
Curing cannot be compressed. Underwater coatings and elastic membranes need their full cure window before being flooded or exposed to traffic. Project programmes that compress that window to meet a soft opening date consistently produce callbacks.
Application standards the company now applies
Based on that installed base, the company has standardised three commissioning requirements across all projects:
- Moisture and adhesion testing before topcoat. Concrete substrate moisture is measured and recorded before primer application, and pull-off adhesion is verified on a test area before full coverage begins.
- Detail inspection as a separate hold point. All penetrations, joints and interfaces are inspected and signed off before the field coat goes down, rather than being checked at final handover.
- Documented cure before flooding. Pool filling and water park commissioning dates are set from the documented full-cure date, not from the application completion date.
Next threshold
With capacity expansion now complete at the Guangzhou base, the next phase of the programme focuses on the renovation segment, where existing water parks replace worn surfacing between operating seasons within tight windows.
Renovation work places different demands on the material system: the substrate is often unknown until the old surface is removed, the schedule is fixed by the operating calendar rather than by the construction programme, and the finished surface must meet current slip resistance standards that did not exist when the facility was originally built.
