Product Overview
SLETU-901 is a two-component high-penetration epoxy primer using an epoxy resin base cross-linked with a polyamide curing agent. Its low-viscosity system penetrates deeply into the capillaries of porous substrates such as concrete and cement mortar, anchoring within the pores. Once cured it forms a sealing and consolidating layer that blocks substrate porosity, suppresses moisture rising from the base, increases substrate strength and improves interfacial adhesion between subsequent OiCE topcoats or sheets and the substrate.
It is the universal companion primer for the entire OiCE range of water-contact coating and paving products, solving common problems on porous cementitious substrates such as sanding, pore water seepage, topcoat debonding and hollowing. This technical data sheet is compiled in accordance with ASTM coating standards, EN 1504-2, ISO 14801, EU REACH, RoHS 2.0 and ISO 11014.
1. Product Identification
| Product name | SLETU-901 High Penetration Epoxy Primer (General Purpose) |
| Product type | Two-component high-penetration epoxy primer: epoxy resin base cured by polyamide curing agent |
| Structural principle | A low-viscosity epoxy resin system with a polyamide curing agent offers excellent penetrating capability, entering the interior of porous substrates such as concrete and cement mortar and anchoring within the substrate capillaries. Once cured it forms a sealing and consolidating layer that blocks substrate pores, suppresses moisture exudation from the base, increases substrate strength and enhances interfacial adhesion between subsequent OiCE topcoats or sheets and the substrate. It serves as the universal companion primer for the complete OiCE water-contact paving and coating range, addressing common engineering problems on porous cementitious substrates such as sanding, pore water seepage, topcoat debonding and hollowing. |
| Suitable substrates | Concrete, cement mortar and cement screed. May be applied to sound cementitious substrates in dry or damp (free of standing water) condition, and to some hard inorganic substrates after grinding. |
| Typical applications | Water park pool bodies and slides, public pool decks and floors, children's splash pools, aquariums and landscape water features — used as the substrate sealing and consolidation pre-treatment for all OiCE topcoat products including SLETU-101 true ceramic underwater coating, SLEME anti-slip elastic sheets and OICE protective coatings |
2. Key Features
2.1 High-penetration low-viscosity formulation — The low-viscosity epoxy resin system penetrates deeply into the capillaries of cementitious substrates, internally anchoring and consolidating lightly sanding surfaces and increasing surface strength.
2.2 Polyamide curing system, suitable for damp substrates — The polyamide-cured epoxy can cure on damp cementitious substrates free of standing water, suited to water-contact projects where the site cannot be fully dried.
2.3 Universal companion primer for the entire OiCE range — Serves as the single universal primer for all OiCE water-contact coating and elastic paving products, improving bond between topcoat and substrate and simplifying project material selection.
2.4 Pore sealing, blocking rising moisture — The cured film seals substrate capillaries and suppresses groundwater vapour rising, reducing the risk of subsequent blistering, hollowing and delamination of topcoats.
2.5 Excellent interfacial bonding transition layer — Forms an anchoring transition layer between substrate and topcoat, substantially improving adhesion of paints and elastic sheets and enhancing overall system durability.
2.6 Water and chlorine resistance for water-contact environments — The cured epoxy layer resists water and pool chlorinated water attack, is insoluble in water and performs stably under long-term alternating wet and dry conditions.
2.7 Environmentally safe and compliant — Low leaching after cure, meeting material safety requirements for water-contact structures; compliant with EU REACH and RoHS 2.0.
2.8 Convenient application — Can be applied by roller, brush or low-pressure spray with good levelling. One or two coats may be applied depending on substrate porosity.
3. Technical Data (ASTM / EN)
All values are tested on the fully cured film as a whole, in line with third-party testing standards for European and North American public water-contact facilities. Penetration and consolidation, adhesion, immersion resistance and environmental indices meet overseas pool and aquarium admission requirements.
| Test item | Typical value | Test standard |
|---|---|---|
| Pot life (25 °C) | 40–70 min | ASTM D2196 |
| Adhesion (concrete substrate) | ≥ 2.0 MPa, cohesive failure within substrate | ASTM D4541 |
| Environmental compliance | REACH SVHC and RoHS 2.0 compliant; free of lead, cadmium, chromium and mercury; low leaching after cure | EU REACH / RoHS |
4. Application Instructions (for water-contact works)
4.1 Substrate preparation — The substrate must be sound. Remove loose sand, oil, moss, loose inclusions and aged coatings. Grind and clean heavily sanding areas beforehand. Repair cracks and holes in advance. A damp substrate is acceptable but must be free of standing or pooled water.
4.2 Application conditions — Ambient temperature 10–35 °C; substrate temperature at least 3 °C above dew point; relative humidity ≤ 85 %. Do not apply in heavy rainstorms or frost.
4.3 Coating procedure
4.3.1 Mix Part A epoxy resin and Part B polyamide curing agent at the specified ratio and stir thoroughly. Use within the pot life; do not exceed it.
4.3.2 Apply by roller or brush. On substrates with large pores or heavy sanding, two coats are recommended. Ensure full wetting of the substrate and avoid missed areas.
4.3.3 Give particular attention to internal and external corners, expansion joints and junctions between new and old substrates to ensure complete sealing.
4.3.4 Curing: surface dry in 4–8 h at ambient temperature; cure for 12–24 h (depending on temperature). Subsequent OiCE topcoat or SLEME sheet installation may only proceed once the primer is fully cured. No water exposure or foot traffic before the primer has cured.
4.3.5 Recommended system — Substrate grinding, cleaning and repair → SLETU-901 high penetration epoxy primer (1–2 coats) → full cure → OiCE topcoat or SLEME elastic sheet installation.
5. Packaging and Storage
5.1 Packaging — Parts A and B are supplied in separately sealed steel pails. Each pail is marked with model, batch, mixing ratio and net weight, and is supplied with a product certificate and safety data sheet.
5.2 Storage — Store indoors in a cool, ventilated place at 10–30 °C, away from open flames, heat sources and oxidisers, protected from light. Store Parts A and B separately and keep sealed to prevent damp ingress. Factory-sealed shelf life 12 months.
5.3 Transport — Transport protected from light and rain, avoiding prolonged sun exposure and high temperature. Follow chemical transport regulations and avoid impact damage.
6. Safety and Environment
6.1 A Safety Data Sheet compliant with ISO 11014 / GHS is supplied, meeting export audit requirements for European and North American water park, pool and aquarium projects.
6.2 Safety characteristics — This is a two-component liquid coating that is irritant before cure. Keep the work area well ventilated. Operators must wear safety goggles, a half-face respirator, solvent-resistant gloves and protective clothing. Avoid direct skin and eye contact and never ingest.
