Product Overview
SLETU-101 is a two-component true ceramic underwater coating formed from inorganic ceramic powder, a waterborne hybrid polysiloxane resin and functional additives, cross-linked with a polyisocyanate curing agent. The cured film is a continuous, dense inorganic-organic hybrid ceramic-like coating that can be applied and cured underwater, combining the high media resistance of inorganic ceramics with the flexible anchoring performance of polysiloxane resin.
This technical data sheet is compiled for European and North American water park, pool and aquarium water-contact coating regimes, referencing ASTM coating standards, EN 1504-2, ISO 14801, EU REACH, RoHS 2.0 and the ISO 11014 safety data sheet framework. It is designed for substrates subject to long-term immersion, alternating wet and dry conditions and continuous chlorinated water exposure.
1. Product Identification
| Product name | SLETU-101 True Ceramic Underwater Coating |
| Product type | Two-component underwater protective and decorative coating: a composite system of inorganic ceramic powder, waterborne hybrid polysiloxane resin and functional additives, cross-linked with a polyisocyanate curing agent |
| Structural principle | The system combines inorganic ceramic powder with a waterborne hybrid polysiloxane resin and functional additives, cross-linking into a film through the polyisocyanate curing agent. The cured film forms a continuous, dense inorganic-organic hybrid ceramic-like coating that can be applied and cured while wet or underwater. It fuses the high media resistance of inorganic ceramics with the excellent flexibility and anchoring performance of polysiloxane resin, giving a dense continuous structure with resistance to chlorinated water and seawater salt attack and strong adhesion, integrating decorative colour with substrate protection. It addresses the common failures of conventional epoxy and polyurea underwater coatings: yellowing under prolonged immersion, organic leaching, weathering degradation, ageing in hot water environments and interfacial debonding from the substrate. |
| Suitable substrates | Concrete, metal structures, FRP, existing tile surfaces, cementitious bases and some metal substrates. The substrate must be structurally sound with no loose sanding; oil, moss and loose deposits must be fully removed. |
| Typical applications | Water park pool bodies, slide finishes, public pool walls and floors, children's splash pools, aquarium display tanks, large landscape water features, hot spring pools — water-contact projects requiring underwater coating renovation, waterproofing and anti-corrosion protection together with coloured decoration, in long-term immersion and chlorinated or seawater environments |
2. Key Features
2.1 Applies and cures on damp substrates — The inorganic ceramic, waterborne hybrid polysiloxane and polyisocyanate cross-linking system can be applied to damp substrates, even under still water, without requiring a fully dry surface. This suits pool work, shortens the programme and maintains quality.
2.2 Inorganic hybrid matrix, resistant to long-term chlorinated water and seawater — A polysiloxane backbone with inert inorganic ceramic fillers gives high chemical inertness. The coating withstands prolonged immersion in chlorinated pool disinfectant and high-salinity marine environments without blistering, delamination or chalking, with excellent chloride ion penetration resistance.
2.3 Ceramic-like dense film, high hardness and abrasion resistance — The cured film forms a dense ceramic-like inorganic hybrid structure that resists abrasion and water-flow scouring. It is not easily worn by long-term water impact or barefoot rubbing, and colour remains stable over time.
2.4 Excellent yellowing and weathering resistance — The body is based on inorganic fillers and a polysiloxane skeleton with no yellowing-prone organic resin segments. Under long-term underwater and outdoor use, yellowing and fading are minimal and colour remains stable, suitable for coloured landscape finishes.
2.5 High adhesion, universal across substrates — The waterborne hybrid polysiloxane and polyisocyanate cross-linking system achieves chemical bonding and anchoring to concrete, cement mortar, existing tile, FRP and other water-contact substrates, with high adhesion on both dry and damp surfaces.
2.6 Low VOC and water-contact safety compliance — A waterborne carrier system with extremely low organic leaching after full cure, meeting material standards for water-contact works and the water safety requirements of water parks and aquariums. Compliant with EU REACH and RoHS 2.0.
2.7 Wide colour range, strong decorative effect — Multiple matt and semi-gloss water-contact colours can be specified. Colour is uniform and the finish attractive, integrating protection with landscape decoration.
2.8 Mould and algae resistance, easy to clean — The dense, low-surface-energy inorganic hybrid film resists soiling and inhibits mould and algae attachment in humid water environments. Maintenance cleaning is simple, reducing long-term pool and aquarium upkeep costs.
3. Technical Data (ASTM / EN)
All values are tested on the fully cured film as a whole, in line with third-party testing standards for European and North American public water-contact facilities. Immersion resistance, chlorinated water resistance, adhesion and environmental indices meet overseas pool and aquarium admission requirements.

4. Application Instructions (pool and aquarium underwater coating)
4.1 Substrate preparation — The substrate must be sound and firm with strength ≥ 25 MPa. Remove moss, oil, loose scale and aged coatings. Loose concrete must be ground and consolidated; holes and cracks must be repaired and levelled beforehand. For underwater application, remove silt and biological growth from the substrate to ensure effective contact between film and substrate.
4.2 Application conditions — Ambient temperature 10–35 °C; substrate temperature at least 3 °C above dew point; relative humidity ≤ 90 %. Do not apply in heavy rainstorms or frost. Underwater application should be carried out in low water velocity with suspended solids minimised.
4.3 Coating procedure
4.3.1 Mix Part A (inorganic ceramic + waterborne hybrid polysiloxane compound) and Part B (polyisocyanate curing agent) at the specified ratio and stir thoroughly. Use within the pot life; never exceed it. Do not add water at will — use only the manufacturer's dedicated thinner if viscosity adjustment is required.
4.3.2 Apply by roller, brush or dedicated underwater spray. Apply multiple thin coats, controlling the dry film thickness of each to avoid air entrapment in thick coats. Use dedicated underwater application tools for submerged work.
4.3.3 At internal and external corners, expansion joints, junctions between new and old substrates and pipe plinths, fibreglass mesh reinforcement may be incorporated to improve crack resistance and waterproofing at details.
4.3.4 Curing: surface dry in 5–9 h at ambient temperature; full immersion curing for 7 days to reach final adhesion, water resistance and chlorine resistance. Avoid strong water scouring and impact during curing; do not put the surface into water service before full cure.
4.3.5 Recommended system — Substrate grinding, cleaning and repair → OICE-901 water-contact primer (damp/underwater compatible) → SLETU-101 true ceramic underwater coating in multiple coats → fibreglass reinforcement at details (as required) → static curing.
